TOPIC: JUSTICE; A MAJOR REQUIREMENT OF GOD
TODAY’S TEXT: Psalm 37:27-29
KEY VERSE:
“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you, But to do justly…” (Micah 6:8).
BIBLE COMMENTARY
According to our text, one major requirement of God from all men is to do justly, to be just or to display justice in all dealings with all men. Justice is the quality of being impartial or fair; acting in conformity to truth, fact or reason, correctness or righteousness. While injustice causes tension which effectuate the cancer of disunity in the system.
The Bible also requires that “He who rules over men must be just.”(2 Sam 23:3). Prophet Isaiah also stated, “Learn to do good, seek justice, rebuke the oppressor, defend the fatherless, plead for the widow'(Isa
1:17).
it is not only the courts of law and the Jurists that are expected to be just in handing litigations, although it is particularly required of them to do so, so that High court of justice, for instance, will not be seen as “High court of Injustice”, and Ministry of Justice will not be “Ministry of Injustice”. Hence, those who are said to be ministering on the Temple of Justice will not judge matters based on the gifts or persons before them, but on the evidence before them, in righteousness.
Interestingly, no true religion or creed which is concerned about social
engineering, unity, peace and peaceful co-existence will choose injustice in any form or manner, for it is obvious that those who celebrate injustice will certainly become victims of it, sooner or later. The Church, whether one man or corporate, should show example in dealing justly with all men, and eschew all forms of injustice for the Body (Church as an organism) to be healthy and functional.
It was after the Apostles had justly handled the brawling situation in Act 6, the Church experienced calmness and growth. When Justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous. We, as children of God must justly handle our dealings with people of different backgrounds. For God is a just God and expect his to Children to also be just.

LORD, help me to be just in all my dealings with people.
