KEY VERSE: "...Even as the Lord has (freely) forgiven you, so must you also (forgíve)" (Col. 3:13, Amp).
TODAY’S TEXT:
Matthew. 18:21- 35; Ephisians 4:32
COMMENTARY
For a Christian to be wilfully unforgiving is unthinkable. We who have been forgiven by God Himself have no right to withhold forgiveness from our fellow humans. The holy writ expressly commands us to forgive in the same manner we received forgiveness: “Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
We cannot claim to be God’s children when we find it difficult to forgive our offenders, even in the household of faith. Forgiveness reflects the character of God. Unforgiveness is ungodly. That means unforgivingness is not less an offense to God than fornication or drunkenness, though it is sometimes deemed more acceptable.
An unforgivíng man has no portion with God. The young man that was forgiven by his boss but refused to forgive his fellow servant shortly after in our text, might be termed heartless by many. But that is exactly how God sees us when we fail to forgive others. Painfully, this is more frequently found among the people of God nowadays.
The Scripture is clear that God despises an unforgiving spirit; therefore refusing to forgive is an act of direct disobedience against Him. Forgiveness is a sacrifice. As you go out today, is there any such sacrifice that you need to make? Do not allow that little issue deny you heaven. Settle it right away.

Lord, help me to mirror your forgiving character.

Heavenly Father,
I come to You in humility and repentance, acknowledging my sins and my need for Your grace. Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, who died for my sins and rose again to give me eternal life. I confess You as my Savior and Lord.
Forgive me, cleanse me with Your precious blood, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I turn away from my sinful ways and open my heart to You. Take control of my life and guide me in Your truth.
