Evangel Daily Meal 22 August 2024 COMMENTARY
A young girl in her mid twenties, an orphan, ran into the hands of a woman who runs a hotel business. The heartless mistress used the girl as a sex machine for a few years. The girl hated her actions but had no other place to run for help or any to share her plight with.
One day she heard the gospel and felt sorry for herself but still remained in the dirty business, looking for an alternative life. After a few weeks, she escaped from her captor mistress and ran to the church, that was how she regained her freedom.
You must break up some unholy engagements. You must stop some unhealthy relationships. You must quit some gatherings, meetings, clubs or associations where the name of God is not being glorified.
You must break some habits in order to please God. You must be ready to offend your ungodly friends, parents, relatives and colleagues in order to be in friendship with God.
In spite of the exciting events at Sinai, yet God reminded the Israelites, that they had overstayed. They needed to leave the environment and move forward to Canaan which was their destination.
Whatever pleasure you are getting from where you are, If it does not improve on your relationship with God, cut it. The glory ahead is much more than the present excitement.

PRAYER
Father. help me to discard every pleasurable hindrance. Give me the grace to follow you all the days of my life.

Heavenly Father,

Forgive me, cleanse me with Your precious blood, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I turn away from my sinful ways and open my heart to You. Take control of my life and guide me in Your truth.
