🖊️ AG Evangel Daily Meal 27 July COMMENTARY
Steven J. Cole narrated a story by James Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the great missionary to China and founder of the China Inland Mission. One day Taylor was travelling on a Chinese junk (boat) from Shanghai to Ningpo. With him in the boat was a man named Peter, whom Taylor had preached to many times but was yet to be converted. Peter fell overboard. Taylor panicked that no one on board cared or made any effort to rescue Peter. Taylor sprang to the mast, let down the sail, and jumped overboard in hopes of finding Peter.
A fishing boat was close by, so Taylor tried to solicit their help. But they were more concerned about their fishing business than rescue of a drowning man. The only condition to rescue the downing man was that they needed to be paid. They valued money more than a soul. After agreeing to pay them huge sum, they agree to help. But in less than a minute after the bargain, they found Peter dead. It was too late. They were too busy fishing to worry about a drowning man.
Steve Cole concluded that before we condemn those fishermen, we need to take the log out our eyes. How concerned are we with people around us who are perishing without a personal relationship with the Saviour?
Do we care more about our personal comfort and financial gain than those who are perishing without Christ? Remember, Jesus was concerned about the Father’s Business.” He asked His earth parents: “Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?
” Let’s make use of every available opportunity before us to win souls for Christ today.

Heavenly Father,
I come to You in humility and repentance, acknowledging my sins and my need for Your grace. Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, who died for my sins and rose again to give me eternal life. I confess You as my Savior and Lord.
Forgive me, cleanse me with Your precious blood, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I turn away from my sinful ways and open my heart to You. Take control of my life and guide me in Your truth.
