TOPIC: A MOUNTAIN TOP EXPERIENCE

TEXT: Luke 9: 28-36(NKJV)

9:28. Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.

9:29. As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe [became] white [and] glistening.

9:30. And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah,

9:31. who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

9:32. But Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him.

9:33. Then it happened, as they were parting from Him, [that] Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah" -- not knowing what he said.

9:34. While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud.

9:35. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!"

9:36. When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.

Daily Fountain Devotional 6 August 2024: THE MESSAGE:

The Lord Jesus had foretold His death and resurrection to His disciples and challenged them to remain true to Him and not be ashamed of partaking in His sufferings (Luke 9: 22-26).He also prophesied to them, “But I tell you truly, there are some standing here, who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God” (v.27).

This prophesy came to pass about eight days later as Jesus took Peter, John and James to pray on a mountain. While He prayed, He was transfigured (v.29). Heavy with sleep, the three disciples missed the transfiguration process but not His glory. For they beheld His glory when they were awake (v.32).

Being eyewitnesses of his majesty, these disciples were able to make known, the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Pet.1:16).Are you serious when you pray or do you sleep like these disciples? Be drawn to the place of prayer, praying until you are transfigured and transformed.

May God in mercy open our eyes to see that our momentary light affliction works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. May our lives witness the power and coming of our Lord Jesus. Pray until something happens!

PRAYER: PRAYER: Thy kingdom come, oh God! Amen.

Heavenly Father,

I come to You in humility and repentance, acknowledging my sins and my need for Your grace. Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, who died for my sins and rose again to give me eternal life. I confess You as my Savior and Lord.

Forgive me, cleanse me with Your precious blood, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I turn away from my sinful ways and open my heart to You. Take control of my life and guide me in Your truth.

If you joined in that life-changing prayer, congratulations! We are happy that you have surrendered your life to Jesus!
