MFM Devotional For Today 2024 MESSAGE:

When God told Abraham to leave his father’s house, he took his nephew, Lot along. At a stage, there was trouble between them but Abraham handled the matter with maturity and godly wisdom. They both went their separate ways.

Lot soon started having problems. He was among those captured in the battle of the kings (Genesis 14). When Abraham heard about it, he quickly sprang into action.

The  Bible says: “And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. He divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them………And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people” (Genesis 14:14-16).

Abraham exercised a heart devoid of bitterness and even went further to show a good example to his followers. The same set of servants that Lot and his servants were quarreling with were those who went with Abraham to rescue him and his household from captivity.

Again, when God was about to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, the place that Lot had personally chosen for himself while separating from Abraham, we also can see that Abraham wasn’t a man given to bitterness. He pleaded relentlessly with God until he was able to secure Lot’s deliverance from the impending destruction. The obedient members of Lot’s family were saved.

Refusing to give in to bitterness makes you to be the bigger person. It gives you peace and makes you a perpetual blessing to others. Take a cue from Abraham today. Forgive anyone who has ever offended you from the bottom of your heart. Stop all bitterness and enjoy the peace of God that will eventually qualify you to see Him in glory.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 120, Psalms 121, 2 Thessalonians 2, 2 Thessalonians 3.
