TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL
The enemy’s oldest strategy was never really about destruction first — it was about worship. From the garden, his goal was to redirect man’s attention and dependence away from God and onto something, or someone, else. That single shift in focus is still his master plan today. He is not simply chasing your body or your bank account; he is chasing your allegiance, because whoever you consistently turn to for direction has quietly become the god you serve.
Every human being carries a built-in need for guidance. We were not designed to chart our own steps alone, and Scripture is honest about this in Jeremiah 10:23. The enemy knows this need intimately, and he studies it. He watches where you turn when you are anxious, undecided, or under pressure, and he positions counterfeit sources of “wisdom” right there — a horoscope, a fortune-teller, a manipulative voice, an algorithm that always seems to know what you want to hear. None of these were ever meant to replace the place that belongs to God alone.
Satan also studies the flesh, because the flesh is where we are most predictable. Our insecurities, our impatience, our hunger for approval — these are patterns he has watched in humanity for millennia, and he knows exactly which door to knock on when we are not walking closely with God. This is why a life of shallow, occasional prayer leaves so much unguarded territory. Consistent communion with God is not a religious formality; it is the watch that keeps the gate of your life closed to influences that were never meant to enter.
If you are a student or a young person reading this, you are exactly the demographic the enemy studies hardest, because you are at the age of decisions — course choices, careers, relationships, identity, direction for the next fifty years. In the pressure of exams, the uncertainty of what comes after graduation, or the ache of wanting to belong, it is tempting to reach for quick answers: a viral “spiritual” trend, a peer’s confident opinion, anything that promises instant clarity. But quick answers gathered outside of God rarely come from a safe place. Bring the pressure to Him first, before you bring it to anyone or anything else.
The good news is that none of this makes you a target without defense. Every voice, every impression, every piece of “guidance” can be tested against the law and the testimony of God’s word, exactly as Isaiah 8:20 instructs. What lines up with Scripture, you receive. What does not, you let go of, no matter how convincing it sounds or how badly you want an answer right now.
Let today be a decision point: make seeking God your default, not your last resort. When pressure comes, and it will, let your first move be toward the throne of grace rather than toward whatever seems fastest. That single habit will close more doors to the enemy than any amount of willpower ever could.
KEY POINT: The enemy’s real target is not your circumstances but your worship — whoever directs your steps has effectively become your god.

Father, thank You for showing me that my direction belongs to You alone. Forgive me for every time I have sought answers from sources that do not honor You. Teach me to run to You first, in every pressure and every uncertainty, and give me the discernment to test every voice against Your word. Guard my worship, guard my steps, and let no counterfeit voice ever gain ground in my life. I receive Your wisdom and Your peace today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
