DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR YOUTHS AND STUDENTS. Today’s devotional for 7th November 2026, inspired by the teaching of Apostle Arome Osayi. Topic: Build Your Spirit Man To Win Spiritual Battles.
MEMORY VERSE: “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,” Jude 1:20 (KJV)
TEXT: 1 Samuel 17:1-11, 45-47
TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL
Two armies stood on two mountains with a valley between them. Every day for forty days, a giant walked into that valley and shouted, and a whole nation of trained soldiers trembled. Nobody in Israel’s camp lacked a sword or a shield. What they lacked was something you cannot buy in a market: an inner strength that matched the size of the threat. Before the first stone was ever thrown, the battle had already been won or lost inside people.
Here is a truth many believers learn late: what you see in your life is usually the result of something you cannot see. A smooth website on your phone runs on lines of code you will never look at. In the same way, the grades, relationships, habits and opportunities in your life are shaped by spiritual workings beneath the surface. Paul reminds us that we wrestle not against flesh and blood. If you only fight what is visible, you will keep winning small arguments and losing the real war.
This is why building your spirit man matters. Your spirit is the part of you that hears God, discerns danger, and carries spiritual authority. Like a muscle, it grows by what you feed it and what you practise. Praying in the Holy Ghost, feeding on the Word, and staying quiet before God are how it gets stronger. A believer with a starved spirit and a loud social life will feel every attack as a crisis. A believer with a trained spirit meets the same attack calmly, because he has been in the secret place long before the giant showed up.
Notice also that David did not fight like the soldiers around him. Saul’s armour did not fit him, so he left it behind. He walked into the valley with the confidence of a young man who had already met God while keeping sheep, where nobody was clapping. He told Goliath that the battle belongs to the Lord. Private obedience is what produces public victory. Your quiet hours of prayer today are quietly preparing you for a valley you have not yet seen.
To the student and the young person: your campus, your phone, your friend group and your dreams are all part of a spiritual battlefield, whether anyone calls it that or not. The enemy looks for open doors, such as unforgiveness, secret sin, careless words and compromise, and he uses them to gain access. Decide who and what has authority in your life. Joshua said, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Make that decision for yourself now, before exams, pressure or temptation make it for you. And if you have already left doors open, the blood of Jesus still speaks. Repent, close the door, and take back the ground in Jesus’ name.
Start small and stay steady. Set a fixed time each day to read a passage and pray, even if it is only twenty minutes. Pray in the Spirit until you sense your heart settle. Guard what you watch and listen to, because it either feeds your spirit or feeds your flesh. Over weeks and months, you will notice something change. Fear loses its grip, decisions become clearer, and you stop being the one who runs from the giant. You become the one the giant has reason to fear.
KEY POINT: Spiritual battles are won in your inner life before they are fought in the open, so build your spirit man daily through prayer and the Word.

DAILY PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for making me a spirit and not only a body. Help me to build up my spirit man daily through Your Word and prayer in the Holy Ghost. Teach me to see beyond what is visible and to fight from a place of victory. Forgive me for every open door I have given the enemy, and by the blood of Jesus, close every one of them. Let every voice that speaks against my destiny be silenced. Make me bold like David, steady in secret, and strong when the giants appear. I choose to serve You with my whole life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
