MFM Daily Devotional for Today 2 November 2024 MESSAGE
A Television news camera crew was on assignment in southern Florida filming the widespread destruction from Hurricane Andrew. In one scene, amid the devastation and debris, stood one house on its foundation.
The owner was cleaning up the yard when a reporter approached him.
“Sir, why is your house the only one in the entire neighbourhood that is standing? Asked the reporter.” How did you manage to escape the severe damage of the hurricane? I built this house myself, the man replied.

I also built it according to the Florida state building code. When the code called for two-by-six roof trusses, I used two-by-six roof trusses.
I was told that a house built according to code could withstand a hurricane. I did and it did. I suppose none else around here followed the code.
A house, family, organization, institution, nation and corporation built to the moral code of the word of God can also withstand the moral hurricane that is ravaging the entire world at this point in time.
This is where the place of choice counts. Jesus rounded off his sermon on the mount by giving us the picture of two different personalities.

The first one will hear the word of God but beyond just hearing it, he will make an effort to do what he has heard. Anytime he does the word, the Bible likens him to a man that is building his house.
But this man is not just building but he has ensured that the foundation of his house is on the rock. The harsh reality is that whatever we are building will be tested by different situations of life. The rain will test it, the flood will do its own and the wind will also try it.
The only thing that will last is what is built on the word of God. People who take short cut by disobeying the word of God to achieve result will only discover that what they have achieved cannot stand the test of time. It cannot last. The only sure foundation is the word of God.

MORNING
1. Father, I thank You for giving me the greatest asset in this life i.e. the word of God
2. Father, I receive the grace to build my entire life on the efficacy of Your word, in the name of Jesus.
3. I declare that the word of God is my final authority, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING
4. Father, I receive the inner strength to overcome the temptation of taking short cut to achieve my goals in life, in the name of Jesus.
5. Make me an obedient child and give me the grace to also help others to obey Your word, in the name of Jesus.
6. I bind and cast out the spirit of foolishness in my life, in the name of Jesus.
7. Father, give me wisdom to prevail and excel in all life affairs, in the name of Jesus.

Heavenly Father,
I come to You in humility and repentance, acknowledging my sins and my need for Your grace. Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, who died for my sins and rose again to give me eternal life. I confess You as my Savior and Lord.
Forgive me, cleanse me with Your precious blood, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I turn away from my sinful ways and open my heart to You. Take control of my life and guide me in Your truth.
