DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR YOUTHS AND STUDENTS. Today’s devotional for 28th October 2026, inspired by the teaching of Apostle Arome Osayi. Topic: The Painful Training of the Holy Spirit.
MEMORY VERSE: “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” – 2 Corinthians 4:16 (KJV)
TEXT: 2 Corinthians 4:7-18
TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL
Paul describes every believer as a clay pot carrying treasure. The treasure is the Spirit of God living inside you. The pot is your human nature: fragile, limited and easily cracked. God designed it this way on purpose, so that when power shows up in your life, nobody mistakes it for your own talent.
Here is the part many of us would rather skip. The same Holy Spirit who fills you also trains you, and His training is not always comfortable. He allows situations you would never choose: delays, disappointments, seasons of being misunderstood, doors that stay shut. These are not signs that God has left. They are tools in the hands of a Father who is dealing with the weak and fallen parts of your nature so that nothing in you can compete with His authority.
Notice how Paul talks about pressure. He says he is troubled on every side, yet not distressed; perplexed, yet not in despair; cast down, yet not destroyed. Pressure is real, but it is never the final word. The outward man, with its pride, its appetites and its need to be admired, wears down under God’s hand. At the same time, the inward man is being renewed day by day. What looks like loss from the outside is gain on the inside.
Jesus showed us how to go through this. He did not fight to be released from the cross; He offered Himself. When the Holy Spirit starts dealing with something in your character, such as a habit, an attitude or a wrong desire, the wisest thing is to stop wrestling and surrender. Fighting the process only prolongs it. Yielding to it shortens the journey and deepens your knowledge of God.
To the student and young person reading this: you may be in a season where results are slow, friends are moving ahead, or your efforts do not seem to count. You may feel pressed in the classroom, in your family or in your own mind. Do not rush to the conclusion that God has forgotten you. Ask a different question: “Lord, what are You building in me through this?” Use the hard season to read your Bible more, to pray longer and to let integrity grow when nobody is watching. The young people who learn to submit to the Spirit’s training now will carry weight later.
Paul ends with a perspective shift: our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Look at the unseen, not just the seen. What you are enduring today is temporary, but what God is forming in you will last.
KEY POINT: The pressure God allows is never wasted; the Holy Spirit uses it to wear down the outward man and renew the inward man every day.

DAILY PRAYER
Father, thank You for placing Your treasure in a vessel like me. Holy Spirit, I yield to Your training today. Deal with every area of my life that competes with Your authority, and give me grace not to resist You in the process. When I am pressed, keep me from despair; when I am confused, keep me from giving up. Renew my inner man day by day, and help me fix my eyes on what is eternal. Let my life show that the power is Yours and not mine, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
