MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday 23rd June 2026

Business partnership can be a powerful tool for growth and impact, especially when both parties are Christians. However, even among believers, partnerships must be entered into prayerfully and wisely. The Bible offers principles to help us avoid the common pitfalls that can cause problems in our business partnership. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?” So one major pitfall is an unequally yoked partnership.

When you go into a business partnership with someone you do not share the same spiritual values with, it can lead to a compromise of your faith and integrity. You may end up doing things which are against your Christian beliefs. Also, ignoring prayer and discernment is dangerous. You do not rush into partnerships without seeking God’s guidance (Proverbs 3:5-6). Just because a partnership looks good on paper does not mean it is God’s best for you.

Take time to pray, fast, and seek wise counsel before making any commitments. Another pitfall is a lack of clear agreement and boundaries. When you fail to define roles, responsibilities, expectations, and financial arrangements clearly, there will be disagreement and confusion. This is important because ambiguity can lead to misunderstanding, resentment, or legal issues. Clear written agreements honour both parties and protect the business relationship.

Making financial gain the central focus rather than honouring God is another pitfall to avoid in partnering in business. It means you are placing making profit above honouring God, forgetting that Matthew 6:33 says we should seek first the Kingdom of God, and every other thing shall be added unto us. Do not misplace your priority because you want to maximise profit.
